Alejandro Morales is a prolific author whose latest work is A Place of White Herons, an illusion to the mythical Aztlán, the original homeland of the Aztecs. The protagonist of his novel is J.I. Cruz, an ilusa or healer who, after performing miracles in Mexico, moves to Orange County where she continues her work among immigrant Mexicans in what has become the new Aztlán of the north.
