BURUNDANGA BORICUA del ZOCOTROCO 5.06.18 “CELEBRANDO EL CUATRO”

El cuatro Puertoriqueño.

De que la ignorancia es osada mi vida es prueba. Heme aquí, lejos de solfeos y pentagramas , lanzándome a la música. Visto que la cultura es una encomienda amplia y diversa, me aventuro a comentar un concierto, deslumbrado por la experiencia, plenamente consciente que mis carencias.

El Cuatro Puertorriqueño: Clásico y Contemporianeo fue el cierre de temporada de Pro Arte Musical, una institución con 85 años en el quehacer de presentar la mejor música . La determinación de concluir la temporada con el instrumento autóctono es racional de por si, que cobra particular lectura y pertinencia al volver sobre una temporada marcada por eventos difíciles y desafiantes para el país.

El cuatro comunica el llamado de la patria, de la tradición y la tierra adentro. Su sonoridad tiene un alcance y una alegría que se presta para la diversidad que fuimos testigolos muchos afortunados que tuvimos la ocasión de asistir al concierto. La música, como apuntó la presidenta de la Junta de Pro Arte Myrna Rivera, tiene la capacidad de aunarnos en una vivencia común y sanadora.

Johann Sabastian Bach, Que? Era borinqueño?!

Ante nuestros sentidos se conjugaron la madurez con la juventud, los discípulos y los maestros aunados en la alegría de celebrar el instrumento nuestro. Y vaya que el concierto fue una celebración de esa satisfacción, del gozo que genera la melodía, más cuando se expresa en ese dialogo armonioso y acompasado, cuando la progresión se dispara en virtuosismo para retornar al tema.

La capacidad expresiva y el alcance de nuestro instrumento se hizo sonoro en las interpretaciones de Bach, Chopin, Mozart, Piazzola y Monti, por aquello de atender lo clásico. Patente quedo el talento de Luis Sanz, Benjamín Laboy Ruiz, Orlando Laureano, Ramon Vazquez Lambo,  Emma Colon Zayas y Pablo Hernandez que interpretaron cuatro y Hermelindo Cruz, Orlando Laureano, Eduardo Maldonado y Ramón Vazquez Lamboy que también acompañaron con  guitarra.

El cuatro en acción.

En la Sala de Conciertos repleta se escucharon una diversidad amplia de ritmos y piezas, una conocidas en ingeniosas adaptaciones para el instrumento, otras nuevas premiadas en concursos de composición. Del minuet a la polka, de la samba al tango, no quedó fuera el jazz, con abundante lelolai, de ese que afirma el ser de aquí y vivir convencido de que tenemos talento, disciplina y capacidad creativa para complacer el oído más exigente.

Lo que oímos y vimos en concierto es el producto de una expresión arraigada y fecunda de amor por la tradición y la enseñanza musical de padres, maestros de escuelas libres, programas municipales y conservatorios, instituciones  que cultivan el talento de los prodigios que escuchamos. Testimonio fehaciente de que la música en tan excelente expresión, tiene el poder de dibujar esa sonrisa de satisfacción que solo brinda el gozo estético y sirve para alimentar la esperanza y afirmar el orgullo.

LATINOPIA WORD JOSÉ MONTOYA “PACHUCO PORTFOLIO”

José Montoya is a renowned poet, artist and activist who has been in the forefront of the Chicano art movement.
