BURUNDANGA BORICUA DEL ZOCOTROCO 8.14.16 “MONICA PUIG!”

Puerto Rico esta de fiesta, con merecidísima razón. Mónica Puig se creció a la altura del oro en el tenis femenino en Rio de Janeiro, nada menos que un acontecimiento histórico y una gesta épica Es primera vez en todos los tiempos se levanta la mono estrellada al tope de las banderas y se interpreta la Borinqueña en unos Juegos Olímpicos. Y si quiere dar mayor resonancia al evento, el mismo día en que en 1946 se obtuvo ese la otra medalla por un atleta boricua.

Siendo seguidor de ese deporte, es imposible estar ajeno a la trayectoria de Puig; desde que comenzó a destacar la llevo presente y tengo la inmensa satisfacción de haberla visto en el US Open del 2014. Lo que vi entonces y lo que el mundo vio en las finales de sencillas femeninos en Rio es otra cosa muy distinta; y su triunfo es mas que admirable.

La magnitud de su hazaña la dicen los números: Mónica entró al torneo 34 en el escalafón mundial; para llegar al triunfo definitivo, despachó a Garbiñe Muguruza y Petra Kvitova, ambas ganadoras de grand slams y entre las primeras diez del mundo. En la final se enfrento a Angelique Kerber (#2) para abatirla en un tercer set en que la alemana negaba incrédula la soberana salsa que le propino la Boricua.

La intensidad sostenida, mejor ejemplo del “yo no me quito”, la consistencia de su rendimiento físico, la espectacularidad de los tiros, comenzando con el retorno y golpes magistrales de ambos lados resultaron ser incontenibles, junto a su madurez como atleta para ascender sin retroceso han hecho posible que Monica Puig sea la campeona oilmpica en tennis del mundo, y ese título será todo suyo por los proximos cuatro años. Boricua, pa’ que tu lo sepas!!!

El recuento que hacen los medios es que si, efectivamente, el país se paralizo y en todo el mundo se vio en el tesón y el ahínco que genera el orgullo de una joven que jugó y brindó el triunfo a su pueblo. Y nos unió a todos en celebración y en admiración. En estos tiempos borrascosos, es un aliento de esperanza, de que sí se puede, mejor aun si es gigantesco el adversario.

Esta Isla Del Encanto ha estado ante la atención del mundo en tiempos recientes por la crisis económica, y ahora con la campeona olímpica. Bueno sería si el oro de Mónica ayudara a pagar la deuda.  Se hace muy claro que la patria es un motivo muy poderoso, y que el talento, cuando se cultiva con pasión y convicción, puede dar extraordinarios resultados.  La Victoria de Monica  nos brinda aliento a la autoestima maltrecha de comaprecer como irresponsibles y malapaga, y nos devuelve a la palestra global con una muestra de lo mejor de lo que somos, junto a la esperanza de que los jóvenes lo van a hacer mejor.

LATINOPIA WORD JOSÉ MONTOYA “PACHUCO PORTFOLIO”
