This month’s featured CMC show is George Landa of Los Nawdy Dawgs from Tucson, Arizona. Played and discussed on the show is their 2013 album “Lalo’s Town,” which features their versions of Lalo Guerrero’s “Los Chucos Suaves,” “Tin Marin de do Pingue,” and “Marijuana Boogie.” They also do their take on Lalo’s “There’s No Tortillas,” which became “Where’s My Tamales.” The album is a tribute to Lalo, who was born and raised in Tucson, hence “Lalo’s Town.” Los Nawdy Dawgs have two albums to their credit and have opened for many top artists, including Carlos Santana and ZZ Top when they’ve performed in Tucson. They also backed Mark Guerrero at a tribute to Lalo Guerrero in Tucson in 2016 called “Lalopalooza.” Ry Cooder and Ersi Arvizu also performed at the tribute.
