THE NO KINGS PROTEST RALLY IN AUSTIN, TEXAS

On a pleasant Saturday afternoon on June 14, 2025, Austin participated in a nationwide ‘NO KINGS” protest rally along with 2,100 other cities and towns and 5,000,000 others citizens across the U.S.A.. It’s estimated that the Austin rally, held on the Texas Capital grounds, drew over 20,000 citizens to exercise their fi rst amendment rights. The “NO KINGS” rally
in Austin was the result of a coalition of 29 plus organizations dedicated to civic engagement and the preservation of democracy, stated Sophia Mirto, one of the major organizers and President of the Hands Off Central Texas coalition. The rallies represented a collective mobilization of individuals and grassroots organizations to protest against Trump’s influence
and his attacks on democratic norms. Many Latinos attended the rally to protest the militarization and the brutality of mass deportation.
Protesters in Austin represented a diverse group of people. Citizens of all ages and colors, students, veterans, faith leaders, activists and everyday citizens joined the protest with their signs to send a message to the Trump administration. Speakers at the rally included, Councilmembers Jose Velasquez and Chito Vela, Mayor Pro-tem Vennessa Fuentes, State
Representative Lulu Flores and Travis County Judge Andy Brown among others. The crowd at the Texas Capital was fully engaged and non-violent. Following are some pictures of the “No Kings” protest rally and some quotes from follow Tejanas and American patriots attending the protest.
