Bienvenidos otra a La Voz Newspaper. We are coming out early because of the elections that are taking place on November 5th, 2024. Already we are hearing reports of record turnouts in the state of Georgia with respect to Early Voting. It has been a strange political year to be sure. A man with 34 felony convictions and all sorts of other legal problems may be on his way back into the White House. Kamela Harris, with a long record of public service and having held a number of elected positions has about half the country on her side and if she wins, will join Dr. Claudia Shinebaum, the new President of Mexico, as a female head of state. Aver que pasa.
As you will see in the following pages, there are a number of stories and photos of Raza celebrating. As some on Facebook have pointed out, we, as in the community, are up to our ears with celebrations y que ya parale! Maybe we agree with conclusion and then again maybe not. After all, a quien no le gusta una fiesta? I know if Kamela Harris wins, si va haber una fiesta grande!!
As you will note in this issue of La Voz, we are publishing on behalf of the City of Austin, a large amount of voter information. Here you will find all of the voting locations and early voting locations. You will also find information on voting by mail. This election is important, no deja que te pasa la oportunidad.
In the month of November, the Voces Oral History Project will be celebrating their 25th anniversary. Check out page 27 para más detalles. Dr. Maggie Ti-
va-Rodriguez and her team have really worked hard over the years to make sure we don’t forget those who served our country and worked to bring about social and political change.
Lastly, we want to call to your attention the Texas Book Festival. This coming together of authors in Austin, Texas is an opportunity to see and hear those who have written books in a wide variety of subjects. You will not leave this festival sorry about the time you invested. Es
todo!
