Amado M. Peña Jr. is a celebrated artist whose imagery pays homage to his Mexican and Yaqui ancestry with renderings of indigenous life and New Mexico landscapes. A native of Laredo, Texas, in the early 1970s he was part of the Con Safos art group based in San Antonio, Texas. He recalls how this first generation of Chicano artists were intent on documenting the Chicano experience through their art work.
