Estrada Courts is a neighborhood housing project in East Los Angeles. In 1973, Charles “Cat” Félix, a Chicano artist and muralist, decided that the walls of this community merited murals reflective of the aspirations and dreams of its inhabitants. He began an ambitious project to paint the walls of the buildings with murals. In this vintage archival footage, directed and produced by Oscar Castillo, Charles “Cat” Félix talks about how the project came to be.
