Gilbert “Magu” Lujan is a pioneer Chicano artist who was a member of the 1970s legendary art collective Los Four, the first Chicanos to exhibit at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Throughout his artistic career Magu has explored the icons, symbols and imagery of the Chicano barrio. He explains why “lowriders” are such an important component to his work.
