Con Safos Magazine, a daring and irreverant literary magazine featuring the writings of Latino authors was first published in 1967 under the stewardship of Ralph “Rafas” López and Arturo “Tudi” Flores. The original vision for the literary magazine, however, was soon changed when the Chicano civil rights movement exploded on the scene in1968. This forced the core group of writers to reevaluate the thrust of their magazine.
