In 1970, the Coronado Bridge in San Diego had recently been completed and the city of San Diego had agreed to allow the residents of the Logan Heights barrio to use the land under the bridge as a public park. But then the city changed its mind and decided to allow it to be used as a Highway Patrol substation. The outraged citizens of Logan Heights responded by occupying the land. This is the first of a two-part video on the the creation of Chicano Park.
