Octavio I. Romano V (1923-2005) was the pioneering founder of Tonatiuh-Quinto Sol Publications, one of the earliest editorials to publish Chicano authors in the United States. He created the Premio Quinto Sol award which gave impetus to the careers of such authors as Rudy Anaya, Estela Portillo Trambley and Tomas Rivera. In this rare archival footage, Dr. Romano talks about his passion, Chicano literature, which in 1978 was just beginning to be appreciated nationwide. Latinopia is proud to honor Dr. Romano as a LATINOPIA HERO for his visionary work in advancing Chicano and Latino literature.
