LATINOPIA BOOK REVIEW CAMPANITA CHILDREN’S BOOKS

Hay más que 55 millones de “Latinos” residiendo en los Estados Unidos,

El Buro Del Censo Poblacional Norteamericano reporta que en 2014 había 55 millones de “Latinos” residiendo en los Estados Unidos, un 15% de la población total y, como conjunto de nacionalidades, la minoría más grande de emigrantes. Un contingente de ese volumen presenta inmensos retos y desafíos para la cultura de los que llegan y los que los reciben, en el asunto siempre crucial de identidad.

Y si bien es cierto los Estados Unidos se forjo de inmigrantes y la democracia predica la igualdad y el capitalismo promueve el sueño de abundancia una. No creo equivocame mucho al pensar, que el sueño sigue vivo pero las étnias que han migrado el tiempos más recientes han encontrado un racismo muy patente, que hoy propone muros de exclusión y deportacines. El mejor, quiza el único antídoto contra sea rabia, cuando tiene exito, es el talento; esa virtud de la creatividad que hace un producto de una calidad indiscutible.

Editorial Campanita publica literatura de escritores Latinos para niños.

Evidencia de ello es el empeño de Mario Picayo de crear una editorial para publicar literatura de calidad en ingles y español, escrita por Latinos que desafían los cánones de la literatura convencional. Un esfuerzo para contribuir a recuperar la memoria histórica y personal y abonar al patrimonio de todos. La gestiones de Picayo se ha encaminado en dos direcciones adjuntas y complementarias; Editorial Campana publica literatura de escritores Latinos residentes en Los Estados Unidos y Editorial Campanita libros de ninos.

Los libros de niños publicados por Campanita/ Little Bell Carribbean son un gusto a todos sentido; de ver y tocar su vistosa encuadernación, de ojear sus hermosas páginas, apreciar sus deslumbrantes ilustraciones y disfrutar de su narrativa, ya sea cuento, fabula o prosa poética, que de todo hay con el mas cuidado esmero.

 

Se destacan los títulos: El Gallo Lunero con textos de David y Phillis Gershator e ilustraciones de Algel Velazco, Beba y la Isla Nena de Rafael Landrón con ilustraciones de María A. Ordonez, Mi cerebro no va a salir flotando de Annette Pérez ilustraciones por Yolanda V. Fundadora, Los Hombres de Pensamiento Azul de Enrique Pérez Diaz con ilustraciones de Anabel Alonso, The Shark and the Parrot Fish de Mario Picayo ilustraciones por Cherise Ward y A Caribbean Journey from A to Y de Mario Picayo y Earleen Griswood.

El Gallo Lunero es uno de los libor spublicado por Editorial Campania.

A tono con la política editorial, los libros se presentan en español e inglés como un ejercicio bilingüe y una manera de promover la belleza sonora y el alcance del vocabulario en ambos idiomas. Los volumes varían en su temática y en su nivel, unos mas elementales para los mas jóvenes como El Gallo Lunero y Beba y la Isla Nena, otros mas complejos como The Shark and the Parrot Fish, que cuenta fabulas y moralejas tropicales, así como el vocabulario de A Carribbean Journey que apelan a un grupo de mayor edad y resultan didáctico para todas las edades. Mi cerebro no va a salir flotando narra el encuentro y superación de una niña de 9 años ante la hidrocefalia y Los hombres de pensamiento Azul añade al mito de la desaparición de los Tainos.

En conjunto, los libros de Campanita se destaca por la atención a todos sus detalles, la apariencia de la impresión, la calidad de sus graficas, lo minucioso de sus traducciones, todas por traductores profesionales, así como lo sugestivo de un contenido que contribute al bilingüismo y la diversidad étnica, geográfica y cultural, que son sus mensajes resonantes su singularidad y distinctivo. Confirman que la cultura se nutre y propaga con la calidad de su producto. Los libros de Editorial Campana son un orgullo para la Raza, algo que cualquier padre o madre puede adquirir y compartir con sus hijos, con la certidumbre de que abona a lo mejor de lo que somos y podemos dar.

LATINOPIA WORD JOSÉ MONTOYA “PACHUCO PORTFOLIO”

José Montoya is a renowned poet, artist and activist who has been in the forefront of the Chicano art movement. One of his most celebrated poems is titled “Pachuco Portfolio” which pays homage to the iconic and enduring character of El Pachuco, the 1940s  Mexican American youth who dressed in the stylish Zoot Suit.
