John Martinez is a musician and poet who studied Creative Writing under the late Philip Levine. As a musician he has toured with El Teatro de la Tierra and with the group TROKA, co-founded by poet laureate Felipe Herrera. At a recent Florycanto gathering at the home of author and literary activist Michael Sedano, he read his poem, “Take me to the Ocean.”
