Hector Gonzalez is owner of Rampart Records, the vintage record label founded by legendary music producer Eddie Davis. In the 1960s, Davis recorded Chicano bands from E.L.A. such as the Blendells, The Premiers, El Chicano and Cannibal and the Headhunters and many others. Hector Gonzalez recalls how an accidental lapse in memory by Frankie Garcia, the lead singer of Cannibal and the Headhunters, led to him improvising a song phrase that became nationally known in the hit song, “Land of a Thousand Dances.” Hector tells us what happened.
