The Two Generations exhibit highlights the artwork of two veteran artists, David Botello and Wayne Alaniz Healy, and two up-and-coming talented young artists, Fabian Borda and Wenceslao Quiroz, who gathered inspiration through the work and mentorship of Botello and Healy, two iconic Los Angeles artists who are co-founders of one of the first 1970s muralist groups, the East Los Angeles Streetscapers. Both Healy and Botello have been painting since childhood, creating their first mural together in their 3rd grade class. They have built a legacy of mural and studio painting and other multi-media work as sculpture, printmaking, and ceramic tile creations. Both are in important collections nationally and internationally. Borda and Quiroz have also been creating art since childhood and through mentoring were introduced to creative expression in all forms, from graffiti to murals to sketching and fine art painting. Although mentored by the two masters, Borda and Quiroz have been able to develop their own unique styles and means of expression as evident in this exhibit. The Two Generations exhibit features never before seen work from these four truly gifted Fine Artists. Exhibition is through November 29,2012.

The parade for the annual Cardinal Days kicks off at 11:30 on Saturday November 10 at the High School located on the corner of Hi 281 South (Roosevelt Rd) and Martinez-Losoya Road in Losoya, Texas. Volunteer reenactors should be on the football field at 10:30 AM for rehearsal. The parade ends at the football field and the reenactment follows.
The Battle of Medina was the biggest and bloodiest battle ever fought on Texas soil. More lives were lost in this battle and its aftermath, than in all of the other battles in the second Texas Revolution. The Battle of Medina put an end to the first constitutional government in Texas, but not the spirit of Independence. Serving in the Spanish Army at this battle was a 19 year old lieutenant, Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna. Anyone wishing to participate may do so as an 1813 Tejano, Anglo America filibuster, Native American or Spanish/Mexican soldier. Examples of costumes are available on my Facebook page or you may call Star Line Costumes at 210-435-3535. Dan Arellano President , Battle of Medina Society
