“Enrique’s Journey” is a Pulitzer Prize-winning narrative by Sonia Nazario about the harrowing experiences of a seventeen-year-old Honduran boy who sets out alone to travel to the United States to find his mother whom he hasn’t seen in more than a dozen years. The riveting true story was adapted for the stage by Anthony J. Garcia, director of Su Teatro, a Chicano theater company based in Denver, Colorado. Latinopia caught up with the play at the Encuentro 2014 Theater Festival in Los Angeles in October of 2014. In this second part of a two-part rendering of key moments in the stage play, we learn of “The Six Deporatations of Enrique.”
