Having created El Pachuco character as the alter ego for the protagonist Henry Reyna in his play “Zoot Suit,” playwright and director Luis Valdez was now tasked to find someone who could interpret this iconic and elusive personage. Latinopia asked Luis Valdez how he came to settle on Edward James Olmos for the role of El Pachuco and found that in great works there is often a lot due to chance.
