This week Mark Guerrero’s Chicano Music Chronicles features the East Los Angeles band, APB (All Points Bulletin). This band was led by Aaron Ballesteros, best known as the drummer for Tierra and many other top Chicano/Latino artists. On APB’s recordings he’s producer, arranger, chief songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. Due to Aaron’s current health issues Mark interviews his son Adam on his father’s behalf. Also interviewed on the show are two members of APB, guitarist Dennis Alvarez and vocalist Gilbert Stokes. APB’s style of music includes elements of rock, R&B, Latin, and ballads. Aaron and Gilbert also played and recorded with El Chicano in the early ‘80s.
