This week Mark Guerrero’s East LA Music Stories interviews Joe Espinosa, bassist, who was a member of Marcy & the Imperials and The Village Callers in the ’60s and Chico from the late 60s until the present time as their leader. The Village Callers album “Village Callers Live” was very popular in the 60s and later was released in Japan and Spain on Barrio Gold Records and Vampisol Records respectively The single, “Hector,” has been sampled by Cypress Hill and the Beastie Boys and was on the soundtrack album of Quentin Tarantino’s mega-hit movie “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.” The group Chico is in their sixth decade of recording and performing.
