THIS WEEK ON LATINOPIA: JULIE CARMEN ON THE MILAGRO BEANFIELD WAR, DANIEL ACOSTA’S “HOMEBOY,” EL BLOGERO SINCERO ON BEING CHICANO, JULIO MEDINA’S SERENDITY, AND ANGELA ORTIZ’S PHOTO OF THE WEEK.
Wow, quite a lot for you Latinopians this week. Your Tia Tenopia has two videos. The first is an interview with acclaimed actress Julie Carmen about her role in the Robert Redford film The Milagro Beanfield War. Our second original video is on author Daniel Acosta reading from at the 2010 Flor y Canto Literary Festival convened at USC by Michael Sedano. This is part one of a two-parter. The second part will be up next week.
Also this week, El Blogero Sincero, Margarito J. Garcia III, brings us part two of his essay on Being Chicano. Check out his Ten Commandments of Being Chicano. See if you agree. This month’s Julio Medina photo is titled “The Future is Skating.” Shot in 1984 in Managua, Nicaragua, the photo is telling. And this week’s Angela Ortiz photo is titled “Some Days.”
Enjoy your week on Latinopia.com!
