THIS WEEK ON LATINOPIA: BURUNDANGA BORICUA ON LA PATRIA PART TWO, SAL BALDENEGRO ON PIMA COLLEGE CONTROVERSY, LATINOPIA HONORS ARTURO ROSALES, THE BEST BOOKS ON CHICANO CINEMA AND ANGELA’S PHOTO OF THE WEEK.
Hola mis queridos! Your Tia Tenopia here with another week of Latinopia videos and blogs. This week’s videos focus on the importance of Chicano history. We start with Latinopia Hero Dr. Arturo Rosales. A historian and scholar, Dr. Rosales has spent his life preserving and popularizing Chicano history in such books as Chicano! History of the Mexican American Civil Rights Movement, Testimonios and A Dictionary of Latino Civil Rights History. In Cinema we have a review of the top books on Chicano and Latino Cinema, including the just released Latino American Cinema by Scott L. Baugh. Our regular blogger, José Umpierre, returns with the second in his four-part essay on the history of Puerto Rico and Sal Baldenegro’s Political Salsa y Más gives us the lowdown on the current controversy involving workers at Tucson’s Pima Community College. You won’t believe what they’re doing to the workers there. And, of course, Angela Ortiz brings us another stunning photo, this week “Reaching the Sky.”
Enjoy your week on Latinopia and don’t forget there are more than 350 videos on our site. Have you seen them all?
