Our other video this week is a rare archival video of renowned Chicano poet, the late great Abelardo “Lalo” Delgado. Pues, your Tia Tenopia never met Don Lalo, but my Tio Braulio remembers him well. “Mija,” he tells me, “Lalo Delgado opened the 1972 La Raza Unida political convention with a rousing poem that brought all of us delegates to our feet!” Mi Tio tells me he was one of the early driving forces behind Chicano activism and poetry. Anyway, check out this cool video and you’ll see that Lalo’s poem “Disunity” has much to say to us today.
And of course, Sergio Hernández is back with another Arni and Porfi cartoon, This time the barrio primos comment on the recent Justin Bieber controversy. Not to be missed.
