In History Latinopia concludes its three part report on the 2009 Reunion of Chicano Activists held in Dallas, Texas. Check out this video which features movimiento activists from throughout the United States talking about their role in the Chicano Movement of the 1960s and 1970s and how it changed their lives.
As you know December 21st was the last day of the Mayan calendar which many have interpreted as the end of the world. For the record, the Maya never said such a thing, they said it was the end of one era and the beginning of another. Artist and cartoonist Sergio Hernandez has anew cartoon for us suggesting another reason for the end of the Mayan calendar. And for those of you who may think this is politically incorrect, your Tia thinks its okay for us to laugh at ourselves a little now and then. To paraphrase the Pachuco in the play Zoot Suit, “Orale púes, don’t take yourself so seriously, ese!”
More drama on the Zombie Mex Diaries front this week as Lazaro discovers that not only is he a Mexican zombie, he is a very special kind of Mexican zombie. Check it out!
Your Tia wishes all of you a Feliz Navidad and as they say,. “Un Prospero Año Nuevo!”
