HAPPY CINCO DE MAYO! PACHUCOS, TIRILONES & CHOLAS, GREAT CUCARACHAS, BEAUTIFUL SUNSETS AND ROY’S CAFÉ THIS WEEK ON LATINOPIA!
Hola mis queridos! This week your Tia has a video of one of our most accomplished artists, El Paso-based Gaspar Enríquez. Gaspar is known for his photo-realistic airbrush portraits of barrio youth, many of them students of his from his thirty-year career teaching at Bowie high school in the heart of El Segundo Barrio. The El Paso Museum of Art recently mounted a retrospective of Gaspar’s work and it is nothing short of stunning. You’ll agree when you check out this cool video. Andale, miralo!
Also this week, Sergio Hernández returns with his Arnie and Porfi cartoon strip. This time the duo are confronted by the Great Cucarachas. Who is that, you ask? Well check out the cartoon and think twice the next time you’re about to step on one of those little critters.
And this week we have another Angela Ortiz photo, this one titled ”Sunset.” And in Zombie Mex Diaries, Pearl Gonzalez and La Señora Falcón go undercover in Amboy, California to find out the secret of the Oñate Zombie hive at Amboy Crater.
Enjoy this week on Latinopia and have a happy CINCO DE MAYO!
OOXX
Your Tia Tenopia.
