THIS WEEK ON LATINOPIA: THELMA REYNA, BRAVO ROAD, MAURICIO MENDOZA, MARÍA JIMÉNEZ HENLEY, MARÍA AGUI CARTER AND MORE
What up Latinopians! This week we feature three cinema videos. Our first is a new interview with Mauricio Mendoza who played Miguel Santiago, the eldest son of the Santiago family in the landmark SHOWTIME drama series Resurrection Blvd. We are also reprising a visit with María Jiménez Henley who starred in the classic Broadway production as well as the movie version of West Side Story. Also in cinema we visit with María Agui Carter who tells us about her new movie Rebel, the story of a Latina soldier during the American Civil War. Lot of good videos for you to check out!
This week we feature an interview with Latinopia book critic Dr. Thelma Reyna on her new book “Rising, Falling, All of Us,” and her new position as poet laureate of the Altadena Library system.
Also this week, Don Felípe De Ortego brings us another Bravo Road blog, this week he looks at school curriculum focusing on the sciences (STEM) and the arts and humanities (MASSH). If you haven’t heard of these terms check out this thoughtful article on what education should be like.
Angela Ortiz returns with her Photo of the Week, this week it’s “Art Deco,” and Sergio Hernández brings us another of his social cartoons commenting this week on the “Cradle of Civilization.”
Enjoy this week on Latinopia!
