THIS WEEK ON LATINOPIA: SPECIAL KIND OF TEA TIME, A SMITTEN FLOWER SELLER, A REPENTANT AUTHOR, ANGELA’S PHOTO OF THE WEEK AND A NEW ARNIE AND PORFI!
Hola Latinopians and welcome to another week at Latinopia! This week your Tia Tenopia thought we’d take a look at three powerful independently produced films. Filmmkaer Luis Quintero gives us a poignant and touching look at the life a young girl in his film, “LA HORA DEL TE.” Bring sure to bring a hankie! The directing/producing team of Gabriel Carmona and Branden Selman take an insightful and unexpected look at a flower seller in love in “LE FLEURISTE.” You’ll love the ending of this one! And author filmmaker Ricardo Acuna offers a an impressionistic take on the concept of forgiveness and penance in his short film “SORRY.” Check out these cool independent visions of Latino life in the United States.
Also this week, Sergio Hernández brings us another Arnie and Porfi cartoon, this reflecting on the Nopal (cactus) as a metaphor for Latinos. And don’t miss this week’s Angela Ortiz photo, “The Pantry Café.”
Enjoy Latinopia!
