LATINOPIA DOWN BUT NOT OUT!
OMG! Latinopia down for a day! Your Tia was hysterical yesterday afternoon when she received emails, texts, phone calls and one or two knocks on the door, that Latinopia was off-line! It seems we had problems with our serve and we were down for much of yesterday. But we’re back on-line now thanks to the efforts of Latinopia’s supercalifragilistic technogenius websmaster Uncle Bodacious Burri. He tells your Tia that the Latinopia server went kaput and it took until 7Am this morning to get it back on-line.
Because of our little glitch the videos we ordinarily post on Sunday will be posted later today. We have to really cool videos. One is a profile of Fullerton based artist José Lozano who talks about his views on what beauty is and how the various visual series he has created respond to his unique view of the human condition. ‘Sta pesao este vato!
In history we have the first of a two-parter on the 1949 victory by El Paso’s Bowie High school baseball team at the Texas state finals. This is an under-dog makes good story that will warm your heart. It’s about a team of Chicanitos from El Paso’s Segundo Barrio who make it to Austin for the State finals and, against all odds and facing discrimination, win the State championship! You’ll love this story!
Also, here is Sara Inés Calderón’s Thinking Latina blog, and a real good one this week about the speech delivered by Mayor Julian Castro at the Democratic National Convention. Check it out!
Sergio Hernández is a taking a little time off to plan the next Arnie and Porfi strip. We’ll leave the last one up for this week and then will start posting some from earlier in the year. He promises a new exciting strip coming in a short time!
And of course we have the on-going saga of our Chicanito zombie growing up in East Los Angeles. This week, he comes to a conclusion on how to deal with his zombie urges. Hay que horrible!
Enjoy!
