RICHARD YÑIGUEZ ON ANTHONY QUINN!
Hola mi gente! We’re a little late this week, ran into a few techy problems pero, here we are with another week of Latinopia! Our videos this week are in Cinema and Literature. Have you ever wondered what it is like to act opposite a screen legend? Well, veteran actor Richard Yñiguez, star of Boulevard Nights and many other films and TV shows, found out early in his career when he got to work with famed Hollywood icon Anthony Quinn. What happened? Well, we’ll let Richard tell you in this week’s video. And in Literature we visit with El Paso author Christine Granados as she reads from her collection of short stories, “Brides and Sinner in El Chuco.” I had to ask my Tio Braulio what the heck a Chuco is. He tells me that “Chuco” is the short hand name for El Paso, Texas. And yes, El Paso is the place where the whole Pachuco mythos originated. But that’s another story!
Also this week, Sara Inés Calderón returns with some cool observations about famed Dominican Republic author Junot Díaz. As usual Sara is right on in her take on the universality of the written word and storytelling. Zombie Mex continues in his quest to find la Señora Falcón, the woman who rose him from the dead. Zombie Mex is determined to find out if there are any other zombie kids like him around East L.A. Sergio Hernández is preparing another cartoon strip. In the meantime, for those of you who missed it, we revisit the start of the Arnie and Porfi adventures in Arizona. Check it all out on Latinopia!
