THIS WEEK ON LATINOPIA: REUNION DE COLEGAS – REMEMBRANCES, RICARDO ROMO ON RICHARD ARMENDARIZ, AND REMEMBERING GARY KELLER, GREGG BARRIOS, ARTURO ROSALES, BETITA MARTINEZ, JORGE BUSTAMANTE, FELIPE DE ORTEGO AND JUAN GÓMEZ QUIÑONES.
Sometimes, its okay to be sad and thoughtful.
On this the third week of the New Year, Latinopia joins with the scholars of Reunion de Colegas to honor the memory of warrior scholars whose lives and contributions have strengthened and empowered our Latino community nationally. We begin with a heartfelt remembrance of scholars who have passed recently as they were honored on December 10th, 2021, in Berkeley, California by the Reunion de Colegas in this Latinopia Showcase video. We also repost videos and blogs honoring previous scholars and writers honored under the banner of Latinopia Hero including Dr. Gary Keller, author Gregg Barrios, historian Arturo Rosales, author and activist Betita Martinez, and immigration activist Dr. Jorge Bustamante and historian Dr. Juan Gómez Quiñones.
Last but not least, this week’s Tejano Report has Ricardo Romo commenting on the work of brilliant San Antonio based border artist, Richard Armendariz.
This week, we remember with pride the many who have gone before us and left us an enriched Latino heritage.
