In this dual interview, Valdez reflects on why the iconic pachuco personage has such power and how he came to cast Edward James Olmos as the pachuco. Also this week, an original interview with acclaimed late poet and artist José Montoya as he reflects on the discrimination and scapegoating of Mexican Americans youth by police authorities. The young Mexican Americans , who called themselves Chicanos, were often beaten and brutalized for wearing the stylized zoot suits.
