THIS WEEK ON LATINOPIA: JUAN TEJEDA ON MI CARNAL FRANK, RAMÓN GARCÍA ON WRITING POETRY, RICARDO ROMO ON “SACRIFICIO” HONORS MIGRANT LIVES AND CONJUNTO AZTLÁN PERFORM DESAFINADO.
Hola Latinopians! This week we begin with an interview with acclaimed musico and author Juan Tejeda speaking about his recently published biography of his brother Frank Mariano Tejeda Jr. This is more than a remembrance of a brother who passed away at the young age of 51 in 1996. It is an homage to a decorated Vietnam veteran and a pioneering Texas and national legislator, having served as a representative and senator in Texas and a Congressional Representative in Washington D.C. Check it out!
Also this week, poet Ramón García, talks to Latinopia about how he goes about writing a poem and the importance of rhythm and spacing.
Also this week, Ricardo Romo’s Tejano Report returns with a look at a new mural that honors the lives of migrant who have passed making the arduous trek from Mexico to the United States. The new mural is a splendid rendering of a tragedy that sadly continues to repeat itself.
And last but not least, check out another side of Juan Tejeda. He performs here with his group Conjunto Aztlán an original song Desafinado.
Enjoy your week on Latinopia!
