This week your Tia Tenopia has art and literature for you. We begin with poet Matt Sedillo’s latest collection of poems, City on the Second Floor, which contains poems about capitalism, consumerism and our collective future on the earth. In the first of two videos, Matt talks about his poetry collection and the themes it covers. In the second video Matt reads one of his poems, “Storm Warnings.” This is a visionary poet who reminds your Tia of an early Bob Dylan. Check him out.
This week we also interview author Emma González about her new biography of Tejano legend and musician, singer and band leader, Little Joe Hernández. Little Joe started life picking cotton in Texas and later throughout the United States. But he discovered he had a passion for music and this led to a sixty year career with punctuated with musical innovations and a unique distinctive sound.
Also this week, Ricardo Romo returns with his recurring Tejano Report. This week he explores the artwork of three talented artists being showcased at the Presa Art Gallery co-founded by interdisciplinary artist and art educator, Jenelle Esparza, and artist, designer, and independent curator, Rigoberto Luna. The three featured artists are: Ricardo Islas,Vicente Telles and Brandon Maldonado.
