THIS WEEK ON LATINOPIA: REV. THANDEKA ON THE UNTROLLING PROJECT, RICARDO ROMO’S TEJANO REPORT ON THE PRINTMAKING OF CELESTE DE LUNA AND JUAN TEJEDA CONJUNTO AZTLAN PERFORMS DESAFINADO AND LOS FABULOCOS PERFORM UNA PURA Y DOS CON SAL.
With ex-President Donald Trump on trial for a scheme to falsify bank record to cover up an illicit affair that would have damaged his 2016 Presidential campaign, our nation is undergoing a tremendous challenges to our civic order and the rule of law. Truth itself is on the line. What can be done? The Reverend Thandeka has analyzed the situation and makes the observation that Americans are being trolled and that what we need to get ourselves untrolled. While Latinopia generally restricts itself to issues pertaining to the Latino community, we have decided to post this important video because it applies to all Americans as well as Latinos. Check it out!
Ricardo Romo returns with his Tejano Report. This week he looks at the amazing print-work of San Antonio artist Celeste De Luna. These prints are really eye-catching and some, like our Lady of the Checkpoint, make profound statements about our society.
And this week is the start of San Antonio’s famous Conjunto Festival. We offer long time organizer of the festival Juan Tejeda commenting on the conjunto tradition itself, and the different musical styles. And we also offer examples of conjunto music with performances by San Antonio’s Conjunto Aztlan and Los Angeles based Los Fabulocos, proving that the musical tradition that began in Texas has spread nationwide.
Enjoy your week on Latinopia!
