Lots of other things going on this week! We begin with an homage to a distinguished doctor and leader in the medical community. Dr. Frank Meza passed away on July 4, 2019. Latinopia posts an excerpt from the docu-drama In Search of Aztlan in which we profile Dr. Meza’s work with young people through the Aztlan Track Club which he founded in 1974. Throughout his career Dr. Meza encouraged and mentored generations of Latinos to go on to careers in medicine. Also this week, we visit a book signing for Frank Cruz’s new memoir, Straight out of Barrio Hollywood.” Frank Cruz began his career as a secondary school teacher, went on to become a university professor, and then shifted and became an on-camera newscaster for KNBC in Los Angeles. Later, he co-founded the Telemundo news network and then became chairman of the board of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. In this video clip, he speaks about his role in co-founding the Telemundo network.
