THIS WEEK ON LATINOPIA: FRANCISCO X. ALARCÓN PRESENTE! DON FELIPE ON CATHEDRALS AND LAERNING, HERMAN SILLAS ON ELEVATORS AND ANGELA ORTIZ ON LOOKING UP.
The Latinopia community is in mourning over the loss of our celebrated and talented poet Francisco X.Alarcón who passed away on January 15, 2016. Known for writing in English, Spanish and Nahuatl, Francisco’s many contributions to Chicano and Latino literature and poetry will remain as lasting testaments to his vitality and genius. We celebrate Francisco’s life with two videos. In one the first he talks at length about his philosophy and approach to poetry and in another he reads two of his poems. We at Latinopia hope you enjoy these videos which remind us of just how amazing a human being Francisco was. Francisco Alarcón presente!
Also this week, Don Felipe De Ortego returns with his Bravo Road blog. This week he recalls the importance of early education in shaping who he became in later years, “On Cathedrals and Education.” Our regular blogger Herman Sillas weighs in with a whimsical look at elevators in our lives. And Angela Ortiz brings us another cool photo of the week, this time it’s “Looking Upward.”
Enjoy your week on Latinopia!
