THIS WEEK ON LATINOPIA: ELSA FLORES ALMARAZ SIDE BY SIDE WITH CARLOS ALMARAZ, ELSA ON CARLOS ALMARAZ SYMBOLS AND ICONS, PUERTO RICAN HURRICANE RELIEF, MARK GUERRERO’S CHICANO MUSIC CHRONICLES WITH MAX UBALLEZ, AND SERGIO HERNÁNDEZ ON THE STRANGE WORLD OF TRUMP AND FIRE HIM!
What up my peeps! This week we continue with our look Carlos Almaraz and his incredible artistic legacy. In Carlos And Elsa – Side by Side we learn about the working collaboration between Carlos and his widow Elsa Flores Almaraz. Elsa talks about how they influenced each other’s work with a look at a new exhibit of their dual work at the Craig Krull gallery in Santa Monica. Also this week, Elsa talks about the unique and at times mysterious symbols and icons that Carlos developed in the course of his artwork which is now on display at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Check out the videos and definitely check out the exhibit!
We remind our Latinopians that there is still an urgent need for support for the people of Puerto Rico after the horrendous Hurricane María. We direct you to visit the post which has a link on how to contribute!
If this is the beginning of the month of October, that means it’s another month of new interviews with Mark Guerrero on his Chicano Music Chronicles. This month it’s an interview with Max Uballez, pioneering musician of the Eastside sound and founder of the Sixties group The Romancers. Check it out, every night in October at 7Pm by clicking onto the thumbnail and listening to the Chicano Radio Network. And don’t forget to tune into the Chicano radio Network all day long for the best in Chicano music.
And no week would be complete without the humor of Sergio Hernandez. This week, we have two cartoons: Fire the Son of a Bitch and The Strange World of Donald Trump.
Enjoy your week on Latinopia!
