THIS WEEK ON LATINOPIA: ELSA FLORES ALMARAZ ON CARLOS’S CAR CRASHES, BURUNDANGA BORICUA ON HURACAN DOS, DON FELÍPE’S BRAVO ROAD ON FAKE NEWS AND HISPANIC JOURNALISM AND DON’T FORGET TO TUNE INTO CHICANO RADIO NETWORK WITH MARK GUERRERO’S CHICANO MUSIC CHRONICLES!
Hola Latinopians! This week we finish off our video journey through the works of master Chicano artist Carlos Almaraz with a look at his widely acclaimed “car crash” paintings. Check out Elsa Flores Almaraz explaining the origin and meaning of these stunning paintings. José “Gugo” Umpierre returns with an update on the dire situation in Puerto Rico in the aftermath of the devastation of Hurricane María. The maestro wisely points out that that in spite of the destruction, the rebuilding after the Hurricane offers hope for an improved future for the island. Bravo Road’s Don Felípe takes on the notion of Fake News and how it has been used against Latinos and what the future may portend for Hispanic journalism. As usual Don Felipe’s observations are salient, informed and spot on. And we remind our Latinopianos that you can tune into Chicano music twenty-four-seven and listen to this month’s Chicano Music Chronicles with pioneering musician Max Uballez.
Enjoy your week on Latinopia!
