THIS WEEK ON LATINOPIA 10.23.16

October 23, 2016 by Tia Tenopia

THIS WEEK ON LATINOPIA: BURUNDANGA BORICUA REVEALS A TERRITORY IN LIMBO, DAVID BOTELLO, WAYNE HEALY TAKE A CHICANO TIME TRIP, RICKY LUV’S “SORRY,” AND SERGIO HERNANDEZ REMEMBERING BOBBY CHACÓN.

This week Latinopia looks once again at the deplorable situation in Puerto Rico. A once vibrant nation of people has been relegated powerless by the United States government’s Fiscal Board. Check out José Umpierre’s powerful look at a territory in limbo. And to make sure you get it, José weighs in both in English and Spanish.

Acclaimed muralists David Botello and Wayne Healy, who have been painting murals for more than forty years. Here, they recall how they got their start with their first joint collaboration, a piece titled Chicano Time Trip.

Ricky Luv returns with another Ricky Luv video, this time he’s “Sorry.” And don’t miss Sergio Hernández’s poignant remembrance of the Pride of Pacoima.

Enjoy your week on Latinopia!
