THIS WEEK ON LATINOPIA: CHRIS FRANCO ON 57 CHEVY, RIC SALINAS IN 57 CHEVY, LUIS TORRES AND ROSE PORTILLO ON DAY OF THE DEAD, HERMAN SILLAS ON THE VIEW FROM THE PIER, WHAT IS DAY OF THE DEAD? AND ANGELA ORTIZ ON “RED DOTS.”
What a Latinopia week we have in store for you! Our videos this week feature an interview with comedy writer and playwright Chris Franco speaking about his new autobiographical comedy 57 Chevy. The play, based on his immigrant experience and on his assimilation into American culture, is a real hoot! In the accompany 57 Chevy theater video, we present a scene from the play starring Ric Salinas which is directed by Valerie Dunlap. Our third video this week is a classic Latinopia video exploring exactly what is Day of the Dead?
And further spotlighting the Day of the Dead tradition we get two different takes. One from monthly blogger Luis R. Tores and the other a Guest Blog by acclaimed actress, artist and director Rose Portillo. This week we also officially welcome Herman Sillas and his monthly blog The View From the Pier as a new regular monthly blogger on Latinopia. Welcome Herman! All three blogs not to be missed.
And, of course, like clockwork, you can always count on Angela Ortiz’s Photo of the week. This week it’s “Red Dots.”
Enjoy this week on Latinopia!
