THIS WEEK ON LATINOPIA: SAL BALDENGRO ON THE STRONG FORCE OF LIBERALS, MARK GUERRERO, CHICANO SINGER/SONGWRITER AND MUSIC CHRONICLER, ON ARTURO “ROOSTER” PEREZ, DIANA LÓPEZ ON QUINCEANUNCA, NEVER FIFTEEN AND RICARDO ANGEL GILB ON MEXICAN AMERICAN LITERATURE.
This week Sal Baldenegro weighs in on the results of the midterm elections and in particular how liberals have a long tradition of doing the right thing. Sal gives us a historic overview that reminds us that the recent impact of liberals on the midterm elections is nothing new. Mark Guerrero brings us another month of Chicano Music Chronicles, this time he interviews Arturo “Rooster” Perez, member of the Redbone band about his long career in music. Texas author Diana López reads from her short story “Quinceanunca: Never Fifteen” in which she recalls her childhood experiences of being introduced to the realities of the “birds and the bees.” And author Ricardo Angel Gilb talks about his new anthology collection Mexican American Literature A Portable Anthology.
Enjoy your week on Latinopia!
