THIS WEEK ON LATINOPIA: DR. ALVARO HUERTA ON THE LEGACY OF LEO ESTRADA, RICHARD YNIGUEZ ON ANTHONY QUINN, ANGELA ORTIZ, ON HER PHOTOGRAPHY, RICARDO ACUÑA ON “MUJER”, AND SERGIO HERNANDEZ ON “TAMALES R US.”
This week we pay respects to celebrated urban planner and sociologist Dr. Leo Estrada who passed away on November 3, 2018. As fellow urban planner Dr. Alvaro Huerta explains in his tribute, Estrada taught at UCLA for decades and was a mentor to generations of Latino urban planners. Dr. Huerta’s call for more urban planners is timely and on point.
Also this week we visit with celebrated actor Richard Yniguez, star of the classic movie Boulevard Nights, as he remembers working with screen legend Anthony Quinn when the both collaborated on the TV series Man and the City.
And in the world of photography, accomplished Panamanian-American photographer Angela Ortiz recounts the vision behind the multi-layered still photography.
Also this week we visit with author Ricardo Acuña as he read his poem “Mujer” accompanied by violinist David Stother.
And no week would be complete without a Sergio Hernandez cartoon. This week the master gives us “Tamales R Us.”
Enjoy your week on Latinopia.
