THIS WEEK ON LATINOPIA: TREVIÑO ON ZOOT SUIT 2017, ALEX ESPINOZA ON DIEGO LEÓN, RUBEN GUEVARA AND JOHN DENSMORE “CON SAFOS,” AND SERG HERNÁNDEZ ON STEVE BANNON.
This week we take a look at premiere night of the Zoot Suit revival at the Mark Taper Forum. Returning thirty-nine years after the original 1978 Zoot Suit Los Angeles premiere, Latinopia’s Jesús Treviño was there at the revival premiere and weighs in on what is different and what is the same.
Also this week, we visit with author novelist Alex Espinoza as he reads from his latest novel, “The Five Acts of Diego León” at a literary salon convened by Michael Sedano at his home in Pasadena, California. And veteran Eastside musician Ruben Guevara, who along with Frank Zappa created Ruben and the Jets, collaborates with John Densmore, drummer for the legendary Doors, to perform his original poem “Con Safos.” And don’t miss Sergio Hernández’s latest Trumpaso, this week he looks at Steve Bannon, or as he calls it, “Steve Ban-Them.”
Enjoy your week on Latinopia!
