Hola gente! his week we have showcase Chicano art and music. We begin with Ricardo Romo’s Tejano Report on three Chicana/Latina artists with a showcase of art exhibit title MASA featuring science fiction themed art. Check out the art work of Nansi Guevara, Guillermina Zabala, and Catherine
Cisneros at the Centro Cultural Aztlán in San Antonio.
Guillermina is a filmmaker and we showcase her documentary about blind Mexicano music prodigy Juanito Castillo. We showcase a clip from Guillermina’s film which she co-produced with Enrigue Lopetequi.
Last week there was a memorial service for Steve Salas, the co-founder and lead singer of the legendary Eastside band Tierra. We reprise Mark Guerrero’s interview with Steve Salas in which Steve talks about his music, Tierra and their breakout hit “Together.”
Lastly, we visit with the Conjunto Aztlán and their performance of “Desafinado.”
