THIS WEEK ON LATINOPIA: RICARDO ROMO ON JESSE TREVINO – AN INSPIRATIONAL HERO, SAL BALDENEGRO ON THE REPUBLICAN PARTY OF LAMENTATIONS, LATINOPIA VITAL INTERNET LINKS AND RICARDO MATTA ON THE ROLE OF THE ASSISTANT DIRECTOR.
This week Dr. Ricardo Romo shares with us a profile of prolific San Antonio artist Jesse Trevino. Trevino is known for his San Antonio murals as well as his oil and tempura art work. Jesse is profoundly inspirational. His career trajectory in the New York art scene was cut short when he was drafted in 1966. During the Vietnam war his company came under fire and he was wounded, eventually necessitating the amputation of his painting arm. Nonetheless he bounced back , learned how to paint with his other arm and hand and has carried on with a lifetime of staggeringly beautiful art works in many media. Check out Romo’s profile of Jesse Trevino.
Sal Baldenegro’s Political Salsa y Más brings us a considered look at the current condition of the Republican Party which Sal thinks is full of hypocrites and chillónes. According to Sal they specialize in scaring and scamming voters for money.
This week we present a Latinopia first: a link to internet websites specializing in Latino/a topics and themes. This incredible assembly of links is due to the hard work of David Contreras who has compiled all of these internet links. Just browse through some of these links, it’ll blow your mind.
Also this week, Ricardo Matta, who is an assistant director and also a director in his own right, gives us the 411 on what the difference is between an assistant director and a director and all of the important work that an assistant director does for a film or television production. Very cool.
Enjoy your week on Latinopia and did you notice? Your Tia is no longer wearing her mask, at least indoors, she is now able to go mask-less outside. Yeah, the end is near.
