This week we honor Dr. Angela Valenzuela who recently was recognized with the 2024 Mentorship Award given by the Department of Educati0on at the University of Texas at Austin. There were 85 finalists so this is a big deal! Our Latinopia congratulations to Dr. Valenzuela for her continued pioneering work on behalf of the Mexican American community and particularly the chavalitos. Dale Gas Angela!
In this week’s Tejano Report, Dr. Ricardo Romo reports to us on his recent visit to a concert at the Pearl Stable Hall where renowned musician Alejandro Escovedo performed. Romo gives us a report on the concert but also the backstory to his incredible musician whose extended family includes Sheila E. and Pete Escovedo. Chekc it out!
