We finish our month-long celebration of lo borinqueño with an interview with Luis Reyes on his classic encyclopedia of Latino cinema, Hispanics in Hollywood (co-authord with Peter Rubie). Luis is known for his publicist work on major Hollywood motion pictures. But not as well known is his passion for the recognition of Latino contributions to the Hollywood film and television industry. After years of research Luis produced Hispanics in Hollywood which is the definitive view of all major films featuring Latinos in Hollywood history. Also showcased are Latino actors, director and television shows featuring Latinos. And one of the people showcased in Luis’s book is legendary Puerto Rican actor Henry Darrow. In a Latinopia interview Henry talks about his groundbreaking role in the High Chaparral TV series. And going from a classic TV show to a new Puerto Rican film, we visit with Ricardo Mendez Matta as he talks about his independent production Thieves and Liars. Also this week, Mark Guerrero returns with his Chicano Music Chronicles, this week he visits with leader drummer of the Native American rock group Redbone, Butch Rillera.
