THIS WEEK ON LATINOPIA: CASA DE LAS AMÉRICA ON LATINOS IN THE UNITED STATES; EDUARDO DÍAZ ON LGBT LATINO ACTIVISTS; DAN GUERRERO’S “GAYTINO,” AND JULIO MEDINA’S SERENDIPITY “YOU CAN’T USE YOUR HANDS!”
Hola my peeps! This week we visit we María Elena Vinueza, Vice-President of Cuba’s Casa de las Americas. With relations between Cuba and the United States finally thawing out, Latinopia wanted to know what Cuba’s leading literary and artistic foundation, the Casa de las Americas, thinks about the role of Lartinos living in the United States. Vinueza’s response was both illuminating and inspiring. Check it out!
Also this week Eduardo Díaz returns with his monthly blog, Mirándolo Bien. This week he reviews a new exhibit at Washington D.C.’s Smithsonian Latino Center, Recovering Latinx LGBT History: Dan Guerrero with the Editors of Queer Brown Voices. The exhibit showcased producer/actor/activist Dan Guerrero and so we repost a clip from Guerrero’s breakthrough play, Gaytino.
Also this week, check out Julio Medina’s monthly photo blog, this time it’s “You can’t use your hands!”
Enjoy your week on Latinopia!
