And we remember our dear friend and master artist Gilbert “Magu” Lujan who passed away on July 24, 2011. We post two videos. One showcasing his University of California at Irvine retrospective and the other the inauguration of the Magulandia mural in Pomona by East Los Cityscapers. His memory lives on!
Also this week we have a guest blogger, Gilberto Quezada, a long time collector of baseball cards, who recalls how important these cards were not just as collectibles but as inspirational pieces that reinforced the presence of Latinos in sports and gave him renewed sense of self.
