THIS WEEK ON LATINOPIA: BOBBI MURRAY ON THE JUDICIAL BENCH STRIKES BACK, LATINOPIA HERO JAIME MEJÍA SERVÍN, GILBERTO QUEZADA ON LA CANÍCULA AND CHRISTINE GRANADOS READS FIGHT LIKE A MAN.
This week Bobbi Murray returns with her report from the trenches on the latest efforts by the Trump administration to undermine American justice. This week she delves into the latest legal rulings by a couple of judges that have demonstrated to Trump that he is not a King. Check out this inspiring blog that reaffirms that there can be justice in America in spite of Trump.
This week we honor the memory of Jaime Mejía Servín as a Latinopia Hero. Jaime was instrumental in the effort to preserve the América Tropical mural painted in 1932 by Mexican master muralist David Alfaro Siqueiros and then whitewashed for its political content. The mural, painted in 1932, was eventually restored and preserved for posterity in Olvera Street with an interpretive center in no small part to the efforts of Jaime and other activists. Jaime Mejía Servín Presente!
This week Gilberto Quezada brings us an insightful look at a curious word that many may not know, la Canicula. It’s the term given to summer time swelter in South Texas. Check out this fascinating article.
And we conclude with poet and short story writer Christine Granados reading from her short story Fight Like A Man.
Enjoy Your week on Latinopia!
